  • Dynamic Standing series
  • Relaxation

In this workshop you will learn a series of organic and natural movements to restore the fascial matrix (connective tissue system) in our body and keep it healthy. The fascia is a three-dimensional connective tissue network that forms a continuous whole in the human body. This connective tissue network permeates and surrounds all organs, muscles, bones and nervous tissues.

Fascia & Tensegrity?

The fascia matrix in a body behaves like a Tensegrity structure. You see Tensegrity structures everywhere in nature and in some objects and images. And what they have in common is that they are very resilient, light and strong (think of a camping tent with flexible tent poles or a spider web). This is how our body behaves when the fascia matrix is healthy.

Too much tension creates rigidity and too much softness will bring less connection in the body.

How does it work?

Fascia is hydrated: through the organic, rocking and often lying down movements, the membranes of fascia, which are sometimes stuck, are detached and hydrated. Restorative effect: The “slide and glide” movements promote the regenerative capacity of tissues and joints. In this way, areas that are closed, stuck or hurt can be integrated into the whole. Movement becomes easier, lighter and more stable: the body finds its “right tone”. When you develop your strength from connection, the muscles don’t have to work as hard. (learn to access muscular strength through fascia). It is a meditative practice where doing less is better: the active aspect of the nervous system comes to rest when the feeling of ease is experienced. The classes promote deep relaxation. We learn to listen to what the body has to say.

By Who?

Marta Font is a Vijnana yoga teacher and shiatsu therapist. Marta is happy to share what she discovers from experience that is healing and restorative. Sanne Kerkhof is a Vijnana yoga teacher, specialist in therapeutic yoga.

Extras: The study of fascia in recent years has brought to light new concepts of biomechanics of the human body, with the result that movement and therapeutic approaches are adapted to these inventions and beautiful developments.
