Fast Forward cursus Pranayama

By focusing on one theme for four weeks you can really grow in your yoga practice.

Series of four lessons- February 3, 10, 17 & 24
with: Eveline Torres
Each month a new series of four weeks begins, with the focus on one of the pillars of yoga and what its practice can mean. In this way your practice can really grow. FOR WHOM? Everyone is welcome: beginners and advanced yoga practitioners. The teacher will give you instructions on your own level.
The focus in February is on your breath and on the Vayus:
* In this course we will build a clear and detailed structure of Pranayama and vayus exercises (breathing).
* We use the Vayu’s (focus breaths) and the Bandhas (energy centers) to activate the flow of energy within your body, your nervous system and your meridians (nadis).
* We work on the synchronization of breath and movement in a dynamic series of asanas.
* A handout with exercises you can do at home accompanies each course.
You will learn that your breath can lead your movements and you will discover how light and smooth even the more challenging yoga asanas can be.
About the breath
We can breathe in many ways. Without careful observation we mostly breathe in the same way and we are not fully aware of our bodies. The Pranayama exercises bring calm and strength without using force. Clear structure and timing brings focus, space and joy into your yoga practice. Discover the wealth of your breathing!
Inhale and hold your breath. Count the number of thoughts you have. It will not be so many. It is very difficult to think without breathing. The mind is slower. So you experience that by simply breathing more slowly you can affect the intensity and quantity of your thoughts. (From the book: The Heart of Yoga ,Orit Sen-Gupta).
We investigate the effect of inhaling, exhaling and the transition between the two. We look at different ways to do that and not only what effect it has on our minds but also our bodies and our movements in asanas. Breathing is the connection between the physical body and the physical mind.
Eveline Torres has extensively studied the Pranayama and takes regular retreats with Orit Sen Gupta, an expert in the field of Pranayama. Her insights are reflected in this Fast Forward Course.
