Viparita Dandasana, the road to a fun Backbend Workshop

THE ROAD TO A FUN BACKBEND
Viparita Dandasana is the head balance back bend, which can be performed in different ways: pushing up from the floor and dropping back from Sirsasana (head balance). It is a skillful back bend which combines the essential principles of the back bend directions with strength and agility.
WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO
We will start with some resting poses
Sitting, Vayu and Pranayama
Short tea break
Active preparation (asanas)
We will learn the basic skills of the Back bend, combined with the principles of rooting, connecting, elongation and the vayus.
We will finish our practice with resting poses and leg stretches And we are concluding the workshop with a Q&A
The Viparita Dandasana is from the family of back bends, which we practice after some standing positions,
like: Surya Namaskar, Hand stand and Elbow balance. Back bends are fun to do. They open the chest and the heart, strengthen the nerve system. If it is practiced right, it can help with weakness of the lower back, hernia and an unstable pelvis. The mind needs to be focused and attentive. And the practitioner needs to be in touch with the feet and the legs and the back bend direction, even in the extreme curve of the back. The use of the principles of rooting and elongation, together with the breathing makes the pose feel stable, light and fun.

Max.16 participants. We work with small groups so there is more room for personal attention.
Graduated from the Iyengar Yoga Teacher School in Amsterdam. She completed the Senior Centered Yoga TeacherTraining by Dona Holleman as well as the Vijnana Yoga Teacher Training by Orit Sen-Gupta.
Classical Yoga is the result of years of studying, practice, research and development, and is based on the Iyengar Yoga, Centered Yoga and Vijnana Yoga. Revital is teaching weekly group classes in Utrecht, Amsterdam and Rotterdam, as well as individual classes in Amsterdam.
